John Lewis Cordless Phones
by rocky57, 12/05/2008
Pros:  As you'd expect, excellent service from John Lewis.
Cons:  Probably bad luck that a component was faulty. Plasticky quality, naff ring tones, poor sound quality in a relatively expensive phone.

This review is not about the slimline model, but the very similar slightly larger model. I ordered a pair because of the 3 year guarantee, & without requesting special delivery they came the next day, excellent. Unfortunately one of the charging bases was not working, but once again John Lewis arranged to collect the next working day, once again good. However, in that short time we had it (very easy to set up) we unfortunately heard the ring tone & experienced the quality of the voice on the other end, & were able to compare with our current old & failing Binatone phones. We were very disappointed with the nasal quality. We also didn't like the 'amusement arcade' style of all of the ring tones available: stuff like '1812 Overture' 'Flight Of The Bumblebee' sounding like Rolf Harris' stylophone, if you're old enough to remember that. This contrasted starkly with the look of the phones in the advertised pictures, with their Art Deco style clocks: also very plastic lightweight material
